1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that your web browser stores on your device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) when you visit a website. On your next visit they allow the website to recognise your device, remember your choices and work correctly and securely. For the purposes of this policy, similar technologies that store data in your browser, in particular the browser’s local storage, are also treated as cookies.

2. Why we use cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies mainly to:

• provide the basic functions of the online shop, such as age verification, the shopping cart and storing your cookie consent choice,
• keep the website secure and stable during your visit,
• in future, measure traffic and how the website is used so that we can improve it (only with your consent),
• where applicable, show more relevant content and advertising (only with your consent).

3. What types of cookies we use

We divide cookies by purpose into the following categories:

• Strictly necessary cookies — are needed for the online shop itself and its basic functions to work. In particular, they handle age verification (access to content intended exclusively for persons over 18), the shopping cart, and storing your cookie consent choice so that we do not have to ask for your consent again on every visit. Without these cookies the website would not work properly, so they are always used and do not require your consent. They are stored in your browser’s local storage and are not used to track your activity on other websites.
• Analytics cookies — are used to measure traffic and to understand how visitors use the website so that we can keep improving it. We use Google Analytics 4 (cookies beginning with “_ga”) and our own cookie “smouk_attr” to record the source of a visit. We set these cookies only on the basis of your prior consent, given in the consent banner.
• Marketing and retargeting cookies — are used to show more relevant content and advertising, or to reach visitors again (retargeting), for example through tools provided by Meta. We use these cookies only on the basis of your prior consent.

In addition to cookies, we use Vercel Analytics, an anonymous traffic measurement that stores no cookies or other identifiers on your device and does not build profiles of individual visitors — it processes only aggregated, anonymised data (e.g. the number of page views). As it does not store any information on your device, it does not require consent under the cookie rules.

4. Consent to the use of cookies

On your first visit to the website, a cookie consent bar (banner) is displayed. Strictly necessary cookies are always used, because the website cannot function without them and their use is not subject to consent. Optional cookies (analytics and marketing) are loaded only after you have given your consent to them.

Your consent is voluntary and you can change or withdraw it at any time. You can do so in particular by deleting stored cookies or the data in your browser’s local storage; the consent banner will then be shown again on your next visit and you will be able to change your choice. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.

5. How to manage cookies in your browser

You can also manage cookies directly in your web browser’s settings. Most browsers let you allow, block or delete cookies — the relevant options are usually found in the privacy or security section of the browser’s settings. Typically, you can:

• block all cookies or only selected ones,
• delete cookies that have already been stored,
• be notified before a new cookie is stored.

Please note that blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies may affect the proper functioning of some parts of the website, such as age verification or the shopping cart.

6. How long cookies are kept

Depending on how long they are kept, we distinguish two basic types of cookies:

• Session (temporary) cookies — exist only for the duration of a single visit to the website and are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
• Persistent cookies — remain stored on your device after you close your browser, for a set period or until you delete them manually. We use persistent cookies, for example, to store your consent choice so that we do not ask for your consent again on every visit.

7. Relation to personal data protection

Some cookies may process data that, in certain circumstances, is considered personal data.
